I’ve played both the China and Coal Creek courses in the past week. For context, I’ve been a regular here since moving to Seattle in 2000 and typically play more than 10 rounds here each year. This is one of the premier golf facilities in the area, and with summer green fees exceeding $200, it’s easy to see why. The scenery is beautiful, the courses are challenging, and the location is incredibly convenient. My biggest disappointment, however, was the condition of the greens… very slow!! Coal creek on Saturday was slower than when i played on Wednesday. It felt like they hadn’t been mowed or rolled a few days. On a course at this price point, golfers should be able to expect well-maintained, consistent greens, and that simply wasn’t the case during my recent rounds. I hope the superintendent takes this feedback seriously. This is a fantastic facility with a great reputation, and getting the greens back to premier-course standards would make a huge difference.

Good course. Beautiful views. Awful patrons. Never seen pace of play so slow with a complete refusal to let someone play thru despite a very empty course. The “members” can’t be bothered to let anyone else enjoy the course. No reason to come back, as the members surely want.

This place is great for pretty much any golf occasion. Ilianna (sorry if I misspelled) and Noble were very friendly and welcoming. We'll be back!

Golf Club at Newcastle has the best views in the entire Seattle area — absolutely stunning. With two courses to choose from, Coal Creek offers the better views but comes at a higher price, while China Creek is easier but has quite a few houses along the front nine, so be cautious if you’re not confident with your driver. Course conditions are just okay; the greens are fine but not great. Definitely get the OKI card to save money. Overall, this is a place you play for the views, not the course conditions or value.
